What is MOSCDC?

First things first, MOSCDC stands for Marine Officers' Spouses' Club of Washington D.C.
Primarily MOSCDC is a social group of Marine Corps Officers' spouses; however, spouses of other U.S. Military officers can also join. We mainly focus on socializing with other military spouses and touring the local D.C. area attractions. Events are typically held the third Wednesday of the month unless otherwise noted.

What sort of events does MOSCDC host?

Some of our past events include tours of the White House, Mt. Vernon, the U.S. Capitol, various international embassies, and the Voice of America Studio just to name a few. Most of our events are during the week and include a lunch. Click here and scroll to the bottom of the page to see a complete listing of last years events.

Every fall we host a Welcome Aboard Event. All Marine Corps Officer Spouses and Officers Spouses of other U.S. Military services are welcome to attend.  All Officer's Spouses are invited to join as members prior to attending the event, but it's not a requirement to attend the Welcome Aboard. We look forward to seeing you! To see when this years Welcome Aboard is going to be held, visit our Events Page. The best time to check is between the July and September.

Annually, we join our “sister” clubs in the other services and rotate hosting the Joint Armed Forces' Officers’ Washington' Luncheon (JAFOWL). It is a very popular event and all MOSCDC club members are invited. Some of the past speakers at JAFOWL have been Mrs. Michelle Obama, Secretary of Defense Robert Gates, President George W. Bush, First Lady Laura Bush, Mrs. Hillary Clinton, General Peter Pace, Ms. Katie Couric and Mr. Tom Brokaw.

Some people ask if you have to be a member to attend MOSCDC Program Events?

Most of our events are exclusively for MOSCDC members. Some events allow members to bring guests. Our fall Welcome Aboard event is open to all.

Why should I join?

MOSCDC has been in existence for 66 years, but that's not the reason you should join. Each year MOSCDC offers a diverse events program while still providing an opportunity to meet fellow spouses and form lasting friendships... which truly is the reason to join an organization like ours.

We would love to meet you, and make you part of the MOSCDC family. Join Now

What do my membership fees go towards?

We maintain a website, a newsletter, and publish a yearly membership directory. The membership fees are what help to keep all of that running smoothly.

Still have questions? Visit our FAQ page.

Do we need volunteers?

Yes, there are 5 elected board positions and approximately 13 appointed board positions. Volunteers are rarely turned away. We welcome your presence, support and involvement! You can find out about our upcoming events which are published on our Events page, and also included in our members only Newsletter called 'CorpsConnection' which is published monthly. It's the tradition of MOSCDC to provide a complimentary  online issue of our Newsletter between the months of June 1 - September 1. If you would like to read an issue and it happens to be between those months visit our home page, and get connected.
